It’s 1942, in the small town of Warrabadanga. With the country under threat of invasion, the women workers at the Dinkum Biscuit Factory do what they can to support the war effort and cope with life while their men are away fighting. When the women hear a rumour that the factory is being closed down, they hatch an elaborate plan to keep the biscuits baking. To keep up morale (and to cover their subterfuge) they organise a concert to entertain the American troops that are stationed nearby.
A mixture of comedy, drama, dance and music, this play is a slice of Australia’s social history - giving us a glimpse into the lives of women during World War II.
